Aaron Ashforth ( 1987 - 2008 )

All at Chadderton Park FC would like to offer our sincere condolences
to the family and friends of Aaron Ashforth who, tragically, died suddenly on 30 October 2008 at the very young age of 21 years.
Aaron played for Chadderton Park from 2001 until 2005 and was a very popular member of the club.
Playing in the Rochdale & Oldham Youth Football League, Aaron’s skill and hard work helped his team lift both
the League Cup and the Fair Play Award at Under 18s level in the 2004/5 season.
Aaron will be very sadly missed.

Manchester FA Skills Programme

Thursday 10th November 2008 saw the launch of Manchester FA's new skills program. The evening consisted of several demonstrations by the FA's new skills team and with plans to set up skill centres around the area including one in Oldham, it could be of great benefit to our players.
That was followed by a training session run by Stuart Pearce and Steve Wigley from England U21s which was later described as "amazing" and well worth an evening stood out in the cold again at the FA. However John, Mark and Matt needed little persuasion to visit the Salford sports Village.
Just a photo opportunity with Stuart Pearce was enough!

New Zealand Champions Central United play Chaddy Park
Visit Central United website - click here
On Sunday 27th July our U15's team entertained Central United F.C. at Chapel Road Astroturf pitch. Central United are from Auckland New Zealand and are in England to compete in the finals of the Nike / Manchester United world tournament next month at Carrington. To get this far they had to win the New Zealand group of the competition and then beat the winners of the Australia and Japan groups. In all, over 7000 teams took part in these group stages.
Despite having made a 24 hour plane journey and only arriving in England the previous day, Central started the brighter of the two teams and scored the opening goal within 30 seconds of the kick off. It was the wake up call the Chadderton Park needed and within 10 minutes they were level with the equalising goal coming from Greg Ham. After that the game could have gone either way with both sides creating good chances although the Central keeper was the busier of the two keepers. All Chadderton’s good work was undone just before half time when they conceded a penalty and despite keeper Ryan Flynn getting a hand to the spot kick, the ball trickled over the line for what turned out to be the winning goal.
Prior to the kick off the Central United players performed the Haka in true Maouri warrior style that will be long remembered by all those who saw it

UNDER 10S LIONS WIN TITLE - NORTH BURY LEAGUE
Congratulation to the U10s Lions who clinched the North Bury League title. Despite being in the hunt for most of the season it seemed like the title was slipping away. In the last part of the season, however, the put together a run of wins which meant they could win the title if they won the last game of the season. And they did! Two goals from Alex Wild and a net buster from Adam Beese-Beddall ensured a 3-1 win over Woodbank and the title was theirs.

A great day out for the Under 10s last Saturday as they won the Radcliffe Borough tournament (again!) Some fantastic football took them through the group stages and early knock-out stages where they then met another Chadderton Park team in the semi final. In what was described as the “best game of the tournament” the lads beat their colleagues 2-1 and then went out to win the final. Well done boys.

Oct 2007

October 2007 was the final meeting of the year for the Manchester F.A. Coaches Association.
The Association meets every quarter and there are always highly qualified coaches from the F.A. to pass on tips and information. This years meetings have included specialist goalkeeping training sessions; tips from Graham Keeley (Head F.A. coach North West England); a trip to Manchester United’s training ground at Carrington to watch a session with the United coaches and finally a visit from guest speaker Sir Trevor Brooking including a question and answer session.
Sir Trevor proved to be the perfect gentleman on the night spending hours answering questions on the F.A. and football generally.
He even found time to pose for a photo with Mark Lengden and Steve Lynch from Chadderton Park F.C

Congratulations to our latest successful youth coaches.
After completing their GCSE’s this year four of our Under 16s players: Chris Bardsley; Rorie Chadwick; Ricky Bloom and Andy Bardsley decided not to idle the summer way but took advantage of the club’s coaching policy and enrolled on the Level 1 coaching course at Manchester FA headquarters in the Salford Soccer Village. All four passed the course with flying colours and now can’t wait to impart their undoubted knowledge and talent on the younger players at the club!!

A
warm welcome back to our Under 14s squad who have just spent five days playing
football in Holland.
This was the first time the team had played abroad and
the main tournament they played in was at VV Zeewolde just outside Amsterdam.
The first game kicked off at 9:30am against a local Dutch side and after 44 seconds
Chadderton Park were 1-0 up and this set the standard for the day. The team went
on to win every single game in the tournament and in doing so did not concede
a single goal. The outstanding player of the tournament and also the top goal
scorer for Chadderton Park was midfield dynamo Johnny Irvine. The team were presented
with the 1st place trophy by the tournament organiser, Theun van den Brink, who
said that the boys played with a smile on their faces and their football attitude
was great. He invited the team back next year to defend their title. Under 14’s
Manager John Caulfield said, “I am proud of every single player in the squad,
we were fantastic both on and off the field and the boys were great ambassadors
for Chadderton Park Football Club.”
A special word of thanks should go
to John, Chris, Matt, Eamonn and everybody involved with the squad who worked
so hard to make the trip a success. Matt says he can’t wait to start organising
next year’s trip!

Chadderton Park F.C. are delighted to announce that we have received funding for £4134.00 from Awards For All. This money will be used to fund our new girls’ football teams and enable us to buy all the equipment necessary for the forthcoming season.
March 2007

Manchester F.A. recently hosted a football coaching session for major grassroots football sponsor McDonalds. Chris Nolan (Under 17s player and Level 1 coach) was invited down to the Salford Sports Village to take part in the coaching session along with guest of honour Bryan Robson. McDonalds were impressed with Chris’ football and coaching ability and have invited him back down to the Salford Sports Village later this year to become a Level 2 coach.

Bryan Robson thanks Chris Nolan for his input during the training session and said he was “able to pick up a few good ideas to use his future career” according to Chris!

OLDHAM SPORTS AWARDS 2006
The Oldham Sports Awards 2006 took place at The Clayton Arms on Thursday 22nd February 2007. The Club was nominated in the “Club of the Year” category. Although it was a large and competitive field our entry was rated “highly commended” by the judges. We made it through to the final three but were pipped for the title by Uppermill FC who have achieved Charter Community Status this year. Congratulations to everybody at the Club for their efforts this year and maybe next year we can push on and win the title.

CHADDERTON AND DISTRICT SCHOOLS LEAGUE.
The first season of the Chadderton and District Schools League came to its conclusion last Thursday. The club has been heavily involved in setting up the league along with St. Herbert’s Primary School and Oldham Community Leisure.
Every Thursday between October and February twelve local primary school teams have come together and competed on the Astroturf pitches at Chapel Road. Mills Hill “A” team ran out deserved winners having been undefeated in the whole season and Corpus Christi were runners up.

Paul Scholes very kindly attended on the last day of the season and presented individual trophies to both teams and the Champions trophy to Mills Hill School.

Congratulations
to Mark Lynch, Matt Fitton, Chris Nolan, Lee Johnson and Danny Smith (missing
from picture) on gaining their F.A. Coaching badge. All five were part of last
season’s Championship winning Under 16’s team who decided to further their
knowledge in football and take the first step on the coaching ladder by enrolling
on, and completing, the Level 1 Coaching course at Manchester FA. The minimum
age to enrol on the course is 16 years so Chris and Danny in particular, at 16
years and a few days old are the youngest coaches to qualify through Manchester
F.A. and are probably the youngest in the country. Their services are now available
to mini soccer team managers but you’ll have to be quick, they are already being
snapped up!

The U8's are in the news again. Having been invited to represent Chadderton Park at "Chadderton Day" and stage an exhibition match they took the opportunity to display the silverware again.

29/05/06
Success breeds success. Hot on the heals of wrapping up the league the U8's clinched the Radcliffe Borough FC Tournament by the narrowest of margins on a penalty shot out in the final. Well done to all the players involved.
29/05/06

Chadderton Park teams completed a fantastic double at the end of the season. The U8's team romped home to win the Manchester Mini Soccer League B Division whilst the U16's were involved in the tightest title race in league history which went to the last game of the season and a dramatic win clinched the Rochdale & Oldham League title
